Sisters Fisher Shut Down Goldey-Beacom

BLOOMSBURG- Jenna Hampton (Southern Columbia/Catawissa) went 4-5 with a home run and five RBI's and Sheelin Fisher (Coplay /Allentown Central Catholic) and younger sister Shavaun both pitched shutouts as the Bloomsburg University softball team swept Goldey-Beacom College in a non-conference match-up on Monday evening. The Huskies won game one, 10-0, in four and a half innings, and game two, 8-0, in six innings.
Both games were called due to the mercy rule.
In game one, The Huskies got out to a 1-0 lead though two innings before they broke the game open in the third. Hampton hit a single to drive in two runs, giving Bloomsburg a 3-0 advantage. Bloomsburg would re-load the bases for Tiff Corliss (Lewisburg /Mifflinburg), who tripled and drove in three runs to push the Huskies to a 6-0 advantage. Lori Neyhard (Bloomsburg / Central Columbia) and Nikki Shiko (Kulpmont /Southern Columbia) would also drive in runs for Bloomsburg to cap off a nine-run third inning.
Sheelin Fisher threw a no-hitter and retired 14 of the 15 batters she faced for her 10th victory of the season.
In game two, the Huskies got off to a hot start in the bottom of the first when in the bottom of the first when Danielle Lazorka (Williamsport /Jersey Shore) tripled to drive in Tara Reed (Williamsport /Williamsport) to take a 1-0 lead, followed by a Hampton home run to put Bloomsburg up 3-0.
In the 5th, it was a similar story to the first, as Lazoka drove in Stacy Krupiewski (Trooper/Methacton) followed by Hampton driving in Lazorka. Bloomsburg would invoke the mercy rule in the 6th when Lazorka singled in Krupiewski and Jill Homyak (Lehighton/Marian Catholic). Shavaun Fisher scattered three hits over six innings to pick up her first win of the season.
With the win, Bloomsburg improves their record to 33-6 on the season. The Huskies will return to action Wednesday when they travel to East Stroudsburg. The action gets underway at 2:30 p.m.
